I met the lovely cigar roller featured in La Enrolladora De Puros in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. My brother and his two sons are all cigar aficionados and when I saw her shop I knew hand rolled cigars would be a great present for them.
I stood there for quite some time just watching her and was fascinated by her deft, experienced hands and the look of serene concentration on her face. I finally asked her permission to take her picture and fired off about a dozen shots from different angles. This image is the result. She was so quiet and shy, and I love the essence of her that I feel I was able to capture in the painting. By the way, the boys said the cigars were amazing!
