Hearing The Unbelievable is the first in a series of three paintings created the day after the 2024 Presidential election as an outpouring of emotion –frustration, anger, and, as the title makes clear, disappointment.
The 2024 election revealed something I hadn’t fully allowed myself to see. Differences of opinion are inevitable—and necessary. But what surfaced felt deeper than politics. It exposed a widening divide in values, in empathy, in what we’re willing to accept as right and wrong.
The scratchy line across the top is taken from a recording of me saying, “I am SO disappointed.”
A fleeting moment, made permanent.
The heavy black marks carry that feeling forward—echoing like a stain. A mark that feels like it represents something ominous.
But while disappointment may be where we start, it doesn’t dictate where we end up.
