My First Painting

So this is the first post of the new journey I’m on. I’ve just semi-retired (it’s hard to retire-retire and still live in Hawaii…but that’s another journey TBA) and have now come full circle. After graduating with an art major – and discovering quickly that the life of a starving artist wasn’t for me – I started a 45 year career path that included illustration/graphic design and massage/bodywork. I don’t think I’ll ever NOT be a healer (I still have a handful of long-time clients I work on) but now I hope to build a following of people who find something in my paintings they resonate with.

This is the first oil painting I ever did circa 1973. I was in high school working in a custom frame shop and art supply store. I’d always loved art and the store had 2 studios with freelance teachers so I joined one and this was the result. I know, it’s a bit of a formula but hey…I didn’t really know any better.

Besides, my mom loved it and it hangs in her house to this day.

I hope if you see this you’ll follow my page. I’m kinda seeing these IG posts as a bit of a diary where I will post a few early pieces so I can tell you where I came from and, hopefully, it will intrigue you enough to want to see where I’m at now.

Oh BTW, I finally got my website up…it’s still a work in progress. I haven’t been able to get all my pieces professionally photographed yet, but I’ve got a good start so please feel free to look – georgeevanart.com

It’s absolutely ASTOUNDING how fast 45 years goes by. While I did a few paintings during that time, I’ve discovered that I haven’t really found my voice yet. I’m trying A LOT of different things and will keep posting and asking for your feedback and support. Please feel free to share at any time.

Mahalo for taking the time to read this. You can contact me directly through my website also at www.georgeevanart.com
