Inspired by the Palolo Valley ridge line that I look at daily from my Carport Studio, Ko‘olau is one of my first abstract landscapes.
Having just recently decided to conquer my fear of painting abstractly, this image happened without really any conscious decision to paint the beautiful ridge that is in the back of the valley where I live in Hawaii. I’d just finished painting a more realistic tryptic called Palolo, so perhaps that was still floating around in my mind.
