I love trail running and spend a lot of time on the trails of Tantalus, one of the mountains behind Honolulu. There’s a particular 3-mile loop trail that starts at the Nature Conservancy and includes this particularly rugged section that is steep, rocky and full of roots.
As dusk approaches, the entire area gets a bit spooky, with a different kind of energy that makes you think of menehune and Night Walkers.
