For The People began as most of my recent work does, intuitively—layers of paint, texture, and fragments building without a plan, each move responding to the last. As the surface evolved, the painting started to shift from abstraction into something more pointed.
Shapes emerged that suggest eyes—watching, present, impossible to ignore, and a hand—a reminder that direction isn’t determined somewhere else—it’s shaped by all of us.
The embedded text surfaced as part of that process: “Support a government run for all the people.” Not placed as a declaration, but revealed as something already living inside the work.
For The People doesn’t offer answers, it holds a question: What does “for the people” really mean—and what is our hand in it?
