One of the most beautiful places on O’ahu is located behind the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, a 240-acre cemetery nestled in the foothills of the Ko’olau Mountains.
The Byodo-In Temple is a cultural landmark that symbolizes Hawaii’s rich heritage and historical connection with Japan. Established in 1968 to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii, the Temple is a smaller-scale replica of the 950+ year old Byodo-In Temple in Uji Japan.
The peaceful ponds surrounding the temple teem with brightly colored Koi that are both stunning and mesmerizing. This is just one of many shots that I took while visiting the temple and stood starring into the pond.
