Sunrise Over The Reef is one of the few abstract paintings where I offer a hint of what I see.
Like most of my work, it began intuitively—layers of paint, drawing, and collage built up over time… added, removed, covered, and revealed.
As it neared completion, something shifted. The feeling became familiar—the same quiet sense I get standing at the ocean’s edge, watching the sun rise. (Or more often, set.)
What stayed with me was that sense of scale, of calm… of something larger than us softening the tension we carry.
That’s what I hope you feel here.
