Composition With Poetry #4 is one of my favorites. I’ve always loved larger canvases, but the 12″x12″ format has become one of my preferred sizes. Beneath the calm blue surface lie layers of chaotic color, collage, and drawings giving the painting a depth and richness that can’t be achieved any other way. Bits of the under layers peek through, like the windows referenced in the poem, but it’s the words themselves are what bring the painting together and give it its intention.
The original poem reads:
